World's 1st KOA

The journey started early this morning around 12:30 AM approx. 15 hours ago leaving from Fabulous Ferndale, Washington. We were sad to depart from the McClaurin's, but as all good things come to an end another journey has just began. We've finally made it to Billings, Montana. We are staying at the very first Kampground of America (KOA). Quarters are not needed for the showers and the internet is wire-free and super fast.

As we exited Washington and entered Idaho, our eyes became very heavy. We thought it would be best to pull over and catch a few hours of rest than crash, burn and die. From 5AM-7AM, we rested in a pizza joint parking lot. Before we fell asleep, Kate intelligently reminded me to lock the doors. Good thinking! Because then half an hour later, a man suddenly began to beat on our van trying to force his way in. I quickly awoke and used my super powers to distract the man and escape only with our lives. Just kidding family and friends, we slept quite safely.

We have just lit the WhisperLite Stove. Kate is preparing a feast of green peas, rice, Hearty Man-Beef Soup and some petite Lady-Vegetable Soup. We might play a round of putt-putt and take a dip in the hot tub. Ballers!

Tomorrow we shall depart to see four men in the rocks (AKA Mt. Rushmore.) Good night!

  1. 1 - I'm glad you decided to rest and not crash and burn and die.
2 - You totally got me with the crazy guy story.
3 - Sounds like you're an adventure of a lifetime!
4 - Blogs / Flickr are so much better than a slide show in a dark room after the adventures are over ---- not that you ever had to sit through those like I did in my youth!
